The definition we’ve all heard of a professional is someone who gets paid for the work they do. But in 2021, it’s easier than ever to find a way to get paid for your work. If earning money is the only metric we are judging our professional work by, we’re starting off on the wrong, scarce foot.
I want to offer a different distinction between amateur and professional, which has to do with intention.
An amateur makes things for their own enjoyment, a professional takes the risk of making something for other people.
